Quintiles shares move briskly on debut

The subject of one of last year’s most widespread rumours, shares in Quintiles began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on May 9th after an IPO priced at $40 per share.

In the first few hours of trading, shares changed hands briskly with their price peaking at $44.33. At the close of Monday’s trading, the price had settled to $43.32, making the company worth $5.58bn.

In the same period, shares in Covance (+3% to $76.33, $4.26bn) and Parexel (+1% to $45.08, $2.56bn) also rose.
